Startup Saturday celebrates the Spirit of womenpreneurs on March 8th!

March 8th Startup Saturday turned out to be yet another inspiring session spreading the essence of womenpreneurs all around! Our Navi Mumbai edition focused on recognizing and celebrating the spirit of women entrepreneurs this women’s day and invited four enterprising and inspirational women to share their stories. Below are some quick takeaways from the ladies!

Aditi Kapur co-founded Delivery Chef, an online food delivery website at the age of 27. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs was simple – Life is too short. The right time to startup is NOW. You dont have to have a unique idea. You just have to be the best at whatever you do.” She said that it is critical to do a pilot test on the product and price point, plan well and build a good team to sail through the ups and downs.

Aruna B. Singh, founder of The Content Company which specializes in content marketing for corporates gave a powerpacked talk on ‘Women in Business’. She talked about the challenges faced by women and the importance of setting one’s priorities right. “Entrepreneurship is about doing things on your terms. It is about leading a mindset change. That is why we are called disruptive” You definitely can set your own terms and translate your business into profitability, she stressed.

Priya Parab’s Strombss was born out of a need to supplement her children’s diet with natural, nutritious  foods. She runs a manufacturing concern and she talked about her entrepreneurial journey – from product design, to pilot testing, to finally selling it in retail stores. Priya stressed on the importance of interacting with customers to understand them better.

Shaalini, a mother and a photographer, founded Chubby Clicks a photography service that offers to capture beautiful moments of children, mothers-to-be and families. She gave a lightning pitch about her entrepreneurial venture which aligns her head-hands-heart and makes her alive. Hers is a labour of love, not a traditional business started with just profits in sight.

Jayanti Gupta, founder of Parinita, which retails exclusive saris from Bengal and Bangladesh talked about building a niche online business for women. She took the audience through her journey – bootstrapping her startup, balancing inventories and advertisement budgets and the quintessential question faced by evey startup – to choose growth or profits.
