June promises to be a very exciting month. Apart from the Startup Saturdays taking place at all our regular venues across the country on the 13th of June 2009, we also have our bi annual event Headstart Summer 2009 (http://network.headstart.in/projects/headstart2009/project-home) at Mumbai on the 20th of June 2009.
The theme for this edition of Startup Saturday in Bangalore is ‘E-commerce and Internet Marketing’ and is being held across the road from our regular venue IIMB, at Honeywell Technology Solutions.
First up to demo will be ex IITians Akash Srivastava and Abhishek Kumar who will showcase their startup, Evening Flavors (http://www.eveningflavors.com/) They are an online media & services company providing an e-marketing platform for restaurants and pubs.
“Why wait in a queue at a restaurant when queues are being done away with everywhere else?” they ask, and provide services like online table booking and party planning. They also provide their customers comprehensive information about cuisine, cost, reviews, maps, location details and best deals available.
Next is a demo of LetsOlla.com (http://www.letsolla.com/) by Aashish Solanki (http://aashish.in/) from NetBrahma Studios (http://www.netbramha.com/). Aashish was earlier a co-founder at two start-ups – Yulop WebSense Solutions Pvt. Ltd. & Genius Dreams Inc.
His latest venture LetsOlla.com is a sharing and bartering platform with the objective to connect people based on location, wants & haves. It enables cashless transactions for both services and products. The beta version of the platform is being launched in a couple of weeks and on the 13th Aashish will give us a preview of what’s in store.
Apart from the two demos we also have a couple of lightning presentations by AIO Bazaar (http://www.aiobazaar.com/) and Web Dhabha (http://webdhaba.com/). AIO Bazaar is an online mart where users can buy anything ranging from vegetables to kitchen equipment and other home products at the click of a mouse, 24/7. They are targeting a user base of a million by the end of the year and will share with us their journey so far. And to round up our list of companies we have Web Dhaba who help customers order take away food online.
Based on requests from past events we have decided that every Startup Saturday will have one talk relevant to start ups across the board, delivered by an expert in that particular field. This month we are very pleased to have Rajeev Goswami CEO – Shore Consulting (http://www.shore-consulting.com/index.htm) who will be speaking on marketing strategies for startups. Rajeev was CEO of CATS, Computer Associates’ joint venture in India. Prior to joining CA he was General Manager of IBM Global Services.
All in all it looks like the 13th will be a mixture of interesting demos, talks and networking among all the participants. Do register at http://network.headstart.in/projects/startup-saturday-bangalore/project-home and come over to Honeywell by 11 AM. Look forward to meeting all of you there.
Good place to visit for people with a fire to achieve success.
