The SS Jaipur September edition was yet another blockbuster event. Courtesy : the comfortable ride of uber cabs ,the welcoming crowd of 120 participants, the amicable environment of LNMIIT College and the Enlightening speeches by all mentors on theme “Student Start up – Why Start Up Early?”.
We had 3 participating startups sharing their learning and experiences in the healthcare domain, one Product demo, one expert speaker and one investor. The session was houseful and was pleasantly surprising to see so many startups.
First we had Mr.Ankit Saraswat from Freedo.com talking about his startup. Freedu is gamified training assessment and placement platform. Currently addressing need of engineering student. The only Web portal where you get paid for learning. It is started by alumni of IIT Jodhpur in 2013 with over whelming support from students and academic staff of IITJ. We won a sum of Rs 10,00,000 in a national level Bplan competition (sponsored by Government of Rajasthan)
Next up was Mr. Rahul …..from Zostel is India’s finest chain of backpacker hostels. With properties in Jodhpur & Jaipur , Zostel has managed to kick off the backpacking culture here in India too. Both properties are currently rated #1 on Tripadvisor for their respective cities! Zostel is also one of the hottest Indian Start-up.They have won the Eureka B Plan competition at IIT Bombay (the largest B-plan competition in Asia), the Richard Ivey B-Plan Competition in Toronto, Canada (representing the only Non North-American team in an IVY League competition), amongst various other competitions.
Third was Mr.Utsav Agrawal from Uber, who has been with Uber for 4 months, and is responsible for growing Uber into new markets in India, sub-continent and Europe. Uber is one of the most famous cabs services running in World. It was founded as “UberCab” by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick in 2009—the service was officially launched in San Francisco in June 2010, with Ryan Graves appointed as CEO in August of that year. Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our app, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in over 48 cities today, Uber’s rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.
Further the session was conviened by Mr. Paresh Gupta . He delivered a talk upon the perks of starting up early, discussed pros and cons of Competition vs. Innovative, followed by a business quiz which had a stupendous response by the audience. Like all good things come to an end, this amazing event did too. Mr. Chitan Bakshi concluded the event summing it up.
Overall, the session was fantastic. So much to learn from these fellow entrepreneurs, so little time. *sigh*. These guys are the rockstars of Jaipur. So much activity in this pink city and we come to know of this only by organizing such a startup session.
