First looks can be deceiving. What struck me first as a product very similar to LinkedIn soon turned out to be a very interesting and useful counterpart to it. I have started using LinkedIn a bit more seriously to keep track of where people I have known over the years are moving to; others like me probably use it to highlight their backgrounds, consolidate business contacts, post jobs, search for people and ask questions. But what LinkedIn does not do is let users review companies, compensation structures and track companies for new updates.
JobeeHive lets you do all of that. It lets users review companies, keep track of compensation structures and work environments and network with people. I see it as being complementary to LinkedIn and positioned for the larger user segment that is more interested in using it as a research tool before deciding on applying to and joining new workplaces.
The professional networking feature in JobeeHive seems to be retrofitted into the company and compensation review features. As an example, it would have been good if JobeeHive had a community feature around companies as well as features to update company profiles and include information such as featured employees, projects and recognitions. This would have been an incentive for companies to update information more frequently and communicate to people who are following the company and are a part of its community. I also think JobeeHive would be adding common features such as posting jobs, asking questions and listing of service providers as part of the way they would monetize the site.
Overall, I am left with a good impression on JobeeHive. Its user interface, though very similar to LinkedIn, is executed well and all its features are working well. I also had a look at Brijj from Naukri and feel JobeeHive is more creative than being just another LinkedIn clone. I would perhaps use JobeeHive seriously if they have communities around companies and thereby bridge the gap they have now between company profiles and professional networking. That will allow users like me (who fall into the employer and networker category) to find people in companies we know and network with them.
JobeeHive is looking to raise some funding now, so if you are interested, contact Vishwas Mudagal at JobeeHive.
We will be adding Community Features around company information – to interact with industry professionals and leverage the collective intelligence.
