New initiatives at Headstart are always the most fascinating ones. I still remember being on my toes during first few editions of Startup Saturday Mumbai when our community was drawn largely from the Barcamp junta and we still used a MediaWiki for registration. Fortunately, our community in all cities has loved us more than we thought and we are recognized today as a prime change-maker in the startup ecosystem of India.
So, we did our second edition of Headstart Hackerspace at TLabs last weekend. This was the first ever hackathon that we organized in Delhi and it was also well received for a day-long event. We had participation from 6 teams and the idea was to build something using social media APIs like those of Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin. Even when we only allowed 7 hours to code, four of of the teams finished their product in time.
The team Illuminati won the hackathon. They built a virtual events platform integrating all social media into a single place where people could log-on and stay in touch with events they could not participate in person. The team members Love, Gagandeep, Varun, Ayan and Himanshu demoed a tool “Lets’ Attend” integrating Twitter’s search and geocode with future plans to integrate Flickr, Facebook and Linkedin too. Congrats to the team Illuminati!
We will do our next hackathon on 15th Sep, again at TLabs. Hope to see you all there!
