Launching HeadStart Higher and Hackerspace in Mumbai

Mumbai!
You’ve known our event Startup Saturday and our mailing list for past several years. Thanks to your patronage and awesome volunteers, Startup Saturday is now in 10 cities and is seen the hotbed for early stage entrepreneurs in India. Similarly, our mailing list is seen as the most active list for early stage entrepreneurs in India. Through both of them we keep hearing about unsolved challenges for startups and we keep discussing about what we can do. Here are two new initiatives for you.

First we are launching Hackerspaces in Mumbai. Hackerspaces are spaces where anyone from the community can organise a Hackathon around a problem. This is aimed at fostering more collaboration, knowledge and code creation among the geek. We believe that this is the foundation to build a large tech community in Mumbai. We also believe that if we keep at it then our tech ability can be at par with the best places in the world in both numbers and excellence and are therefore committed to it for the long term. We have created 3 hackerspaces in Mumbai and more will be created. We will organise the first few hackathons and meet ups and thereafter continue to provide structure and momentum.

Hackerspaces Mumbai is getting launched with a hackathon on 18th August at Infibeam offices in Andheri East. We will meet at 4 PM, register, look at the challenges that have been posed and form team on 18th itself. After that we have until 5 PM on 19th August to code and come up with the solutions > Register here. In case you can’t make it but want to be informed of future Hackerspace events and activities, please register here.

Second, we are launching Headstart Higher in Mumbai on 1st September. Hiring is extremely difficult for startups and Headstart Higher is an endeavor to solve that. It brings together startups and applicants in a meeting in a speed dating format. Thus, a startup gets to meet several applicants within a short span of time and is able to get several people on board. In its last episode, Headstart Higher helped 55 startups talked to over 250 job seekers in Delhi and was covered in Economic Times. Please register and post your job here if you’re a startup looking to hire. If you would like to apply for a job, please register here.

Regards
Team HeadStart
