In the past year or two, there have been a slew of startup oriented events. And if you go to a couple of events, you will notice that most speakers stay put at very high level talk; either they are VCs who keep on repeating the same ‘what does a VC need to see ?’ talk or a marketer talking about ‘how to do zero cost marketing’ or some big wig talking about ‘when will India see $x billion in product business ?’.
Here is a change. I am very happy to let you know that Naveen Kulkarni, Director, Business Development, Philips is going to be at HeadStart 2009. Naveen means business and his responsibilities include identifying and developing ventures for spin-ups, spin-ins and spin-outs in Philips. In other words, he is the man who will identify a new product or technology if he sees potential in it to work with Philips’ businesses. Naveen will be on the Investor panel on the 9th of January at HeadStart and Compute 2009 where he will be accompanied by other corporate investment and business development executives.
Educated at the Queensland Institute of Technology, Brisbane, Australia where he did his Masters in Life Sciences, Naveen is well known in the life sciences industry and has been an entrepreneur. He founded Polyclone Bioservices and led the company as a CEO and successfully forged Drug discovery alliances and developed markets for Genomics and Proteomics services.
