Wisdomtap is a product search engine. It indexes discussion forums for products and ranks reviews on products as well as people doing those reviews. What I find most interesting is their API which allows e-commerce sites to plug the Wisdomtap engine into their websites and in effect, integrate an Amazon type review engine into their site customised for products they sell. This is good for e-commerce providers by enabling them to provide better quality information to the site’s visitors. This is also good for Wisdomtap in that their review engines get a continuous stream of quality queries and reviews done from third party sites. This conversion strategy is also the basis of their business model.
